The Planetary Light Technical Glossary
As Planetary Light continues to develop as a multidimensional educational and spiritual resource, it is important that those who contribute to the website understand not only the language of the Ageless Wisdom, but also the technical environment through which that material is presented. For this reason, we are developing a Planetary Light Technical Glossary, a practical reference for the platforms, tools, terminology, file structures, and digital processes used throughout the site.
Planetary Light is presently being developed with Joomla CMS and the Gantry 5 Framework, two open-source platforms that provide considerable flexibility in organizing and presenting written, visual, audio, video, animated, and interactive content. Joomla serves as the primary content management system(CMS), providing the underlying structure for articles, categories, menus, media, users, and publishing. Gantry 5 extends this environment by providing a flexible layout system and the use of modular components known as particles, which allow specialized features and interactive experiences to be incorporated into individual pages.
Understanding these systems will become increasingly important as Planetary Light expands beyond conventional website publishing. Our intention is to integrate articles with infographics, audio recordings, video, animation, contemplative features, interactive diagrams, spiritual maps, and other forms of digital presentation. Contributors do not necessarily need to become programmers, but a basic understanding of the terminology used within Joomla, Gantry 5, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, media preparation, and website asset management will make collaboration much easier.
The Technical Glossary will therefore explain commonly encountered terms such as articles, categories, modules, menu items, templates, layouts, particles, outlines, positions, presets, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript, HTML, responsive design, media assets, file paths, embeds, and extensions. Where appropriate, entries will also explain how these elements are specifically being used within the Planetary Light website.
For those wishing to contribute content, the glossary will provide an important bridge between creative contribution and technical implementation. A writer may need to understand how an article is categorized; a video creator may need to know preferred formats and dimensions; an audio contributor may need to understand file preparation and playback requirements; and an animator or interactive-media designer may need to understand how their work can be incorporated into a Joomla article or Gantry 5 particle.
Our purpose is not to place unnecessary technical requirements upon contributors. Rather, it is to establish a shared working language so that many individuals, using different creative disciplines and levels of technical experience, can participate in building Planetary Light coherently. Clear standards for naming, formatting, dimensions, file organization, accessibility, and website integration will help preserve consistency as the body of material grows.
The Planetary Light Technical Glossary will remain a living resource. As new technologies, particles, extensions, media formats, and interactive features are introduced, additional entries can be added. In this way, the glossary will serve both those who maintain the website and those who wish to contribute to its unfolding content, providing a practical foundation through which spiritual ideas can be translated into an accessible and evolving digital experience.
This introduction is intended as a starting point rather than a complete technical reference. As Planetary Light continues to grow, we will expand each area with clearer definitions, practical examples, recommended standards, and guidance for contributors working with Joomla, Gantry 5, multimedia, interactive content, and related digital tools. Our intent is to build a living technical resource that develops alongside the website and supports both creative participation and consistent implementation.
